Jeff Childress to Serve as Interim Athletic Director

Misenheimer, N.C. (June 2, 2025) – Pfeiffer University announces that Jeff Childress will serve as Interim Athletic Director.

Childress currently serves Pfeiffer as Special Assistant to the President, and he will continue to work on special projects for the president's office.
 
Childress brings a wealth of experience to the role. A 1989 Pfeiffer graduate and a member of the cross country and tennis teams during his time as a student-athlete, Childress has served Pfeiffer as Athletic Director and as Director of the Falcon Club. Childress also had a long and successful tenure at Catawba College, serving as Associate Athletic Director for Development, and as a Head Coach for Men's and Women's Tennis.
 
Most of Pfeiffer's student-athletes have left Misenheimer for the summer, but the work of a quality athletic program is year-round work, and Childress will be especially focused on student recruitment, continuing with the development Master Facilities Plan for Athletics, assisting the university's search for a new golf coach nd athletic director as well as continuing his ongoing work with the Athletic Advisory Council and the Falcon Club.
