Pfeiffer Athletics Adds Charles Curcio as Assistant AD

Curcio will implement sports marketing and broadcasting programs

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - (Sept. 3, 2025) - Pfeiffer University Athletics welcomes Charles Curcio as Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Marketing and Broadcasting.

His duties will include live broadcasts of Pfeiffer sports online along with marketing duties for the athletic department.  He will also assist the University with various non-athletic special events.

A 1994 Pfeiffer graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with a concentration in journalism, Curcio first started his media career working two years at radio stations WSPC, WZKY and WABZ-FM in nearby Albemarle, N.C.  Curcio was the sports editor and a news reporter for the Stanly News & Press and the Stanly County Journal for close to 20 years, and was awarded the NCHSAA Media Representative of the Year in 2014, the CNHI Award for Best Sports Reporter and also earned four North Carolina Press Association awards in his tenure with the two newspapers.

No stranger to Pfeiffer athletics, Curcio has worked for Pfeiffer University as a public-address announcer and online broadcaster since the 1994-95 women's basketball season, and has also announced for Charlotte Checkers hockey, the Carolina Speed indoor football team and various high school sports in Stanly County.

Additionally, he was the host of Stanly County Monday Night Football broadcasts that were sponsored by Stanly Community College for 19 seasons.

"I am honored and very excited to return home to Pfeiffer Athletics to be a full-time broadcaster and marketer for the department and the athletic programs," Curcio said. "Pfeiffer University Athletics have always been very special to me. I will continue to share my enthusiasm and passion for the student-athletes of Pfeiffer to feature their accomplishments, drive and desire for greatness."
