BREVARD, N.C. (Jan. 14, 2026) — The Pfeiffer University men's basketball rode a dominant night in the paint and another double-double performance from
Doug Smith to earn an 80–71 road win over Brevard College on Wednesday night at Boshamer Gymnasium.
Smith powered the Falcons (7–8, 3–2 USA South) with 19 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 8-for-9 from the field and anchoring a frontcourt effort that produced 50 points in the paint. The double-double is Smith's league-leading sixth of the season. Pfeiffer shot an efficient 32-for-57 (56%) overall and overcame 14 turnovers with strong rebounding and fast-break production.
Guards
Clayton Robinson and
Sean Sucarichi added 16 points each, combining for seven assists and five steals. Robinson hit two three-pointers and scored multiple key baskets in transition, while Sucarichi went 5-for-11 from the floor and added five made free throws.
Pfeiffer led 38–33 at halftime and extended the margin early in the second half behind a 10–3 run featuring baskets from Robinson, Gaten and Smith. Brevard (6–9, 0–5 USA South) stayed within striking distance thanks to 22 points from Jadon Carnes, who hit all three of his three-point attempts, and 16 points from KK Horton. But the Tornados struggled on the boards, getting out-rebounded 40–17, limiting their second-chance opportunities.
The Falcons repeatedly turned defense into offense, finishing with 24 fast-break points and holding Brevard to just eight. A pair of late layups from Sucarichi and Robinson pushed the lead to double digits and allowed Pfeiffer to seal its third conference victory.
Pfeiffer returns to conference play this weekend with a road matchup with rival Greensboro College. Tipoff from Hanes Gym in Greensboro on Jan. 17 is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
