FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (Jan.6, 2026) — Methodist University edged Pfeiffer 74-73 on Tuesday night at the March F. Riddle Center in a USA South Conference men's basketball matchup.
Pfeiffer (4-8, 0-2 USA South) rallied from a six-point deficit late in the second half to tie the game at 73 on a layup by
Sean Sucarichi with 2:35 remaining. Methodist (4-7, 1-1) regained the lead for good when Dontavious Pettaway hit a free throw with one second left.
Clayton Robinson led Pfeiffer with 21 points, hitting five 3-pointers and going 4-for-4 from the line.
Doug Smith added 19 points and 12 rebounds, good for his second double-double of the season, while
Zach Sloan chipped in 13 points and three assists.
Methodist was paced by K.J. Brooks, who scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Tre' Williams had 16 points, including four 3-pointers, and Pettaway finished with 12 points.
Pfeiffer shot 41.9% from the field and dominated the paint with 40 points inside, but Methodist countered with timely perimeter shooting and converted 13 of 17 free throws in the second half.
The Falcons will return home to take on Southern Virginia in a USA South game on Friday, Jan. 9 at 7:00 p.m.
