Brevard Tops Pfeiffer Women 1-0 in Regular Season Finale

Falcons earn #4 seed in upcoming USA South Tournament

MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Oct. 28, 2026) — An early goal by Mikayla Rubin proved to be the difference as Brevard escaped with a 1-0 USA South women's soccer victory over Pfeiffer at Lefko-Mills Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The loss dropped Pfeiffer to 5-6-5 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play, while Brevard improved to 11-1-5 overall and 6-0-3 in league action.

After weathering an early surge from the visitors, the Falcons broke through in the 16th minute when Rubin scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Brennan Howell. The score came at the 15:14 mark of the opening half and stood as the match's lone goal.

The Falcons controlled much of the possession, outshooting Pfeiffer 16-7 and holding an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks. Despite the pressure, the Falcons remained within striking distance behind goalkeeper Jerusalen Gonzalez, who made three saves.

Rheanne Fleming, Quinn Branca and Kenzie Stewart each put shots on target for the Falcons. Branca nearly found the equalizer early in the second half, but her attempt in the 49th minute was turned aside by Abby Nunez, who recorded a three-save shutout for Brevard.

Lily Bido led Pfeiffer with two shots, while Fleming, Branca and Stewart each added one shot on goal. The Falcons generated a late push but were unable to solve the Brevard defense.

Pfeiffer finished with three shots on goal and held Brevard to six shots on frame.

With the regular season complete, Pfeiffer finished the league slate with a 4-3-2 overall record while amassing 14 points, earning the No. 4 seed in the upcoming USA South Tournament.  Pfeiffer will play host to fifth-seeded Mary Baldwin University on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Lefko-Mills Field with a start time to be announced in the coming days.

In the previous matchup with MBU on Oct. 24 in Staunton, Va., the teams fought to a 1-1 draw.
