GREENSBORO, N.C. (Feb. 25, 2026) — Pfeiffer's bats showed flashes of life, but a series of explosive Guilford innings proved too much to overcome as the Falcons fell 15–5 on Wednesday afternoon at McBane Field.
Pfeiffer (1–6) jumped on the board early when Brayden Gusa homered down the right-field line in the top of the first, giving the Falcons a brief 1–0 lead.
Levi Barrett delivered a standout performance, driving in four runs, including a three-run homer in the sixth that cut into Guilford's advantage. Barrett also added a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Outfielder
Christian Bellantoni provided steady production with a 2-for-4 day, scoring twice and adding a stolen base.
Joe Javier and
Jack Brandle each collected two hits as Pfeiffer totaled 12 hits on the afternoon.
But Guilford (6–3) broke the game open with a five-run third inning, punctuated by a grand slam from catcher Tanner Myers, who drove in five on the day. The Quakers added three more runs in the fourth and kept pressure on with multi-run innings in the fifth, sixth and eighth.
Pfeiffer starter
Trent Lowe (0–2) worked three innings, allowing five runs on seven hits. The Falcons' bullpen was tasked with heavy lifting, combining for 4 2/3 innings but allowing 10 additional runs. Despite the lopsided score, Pfeiffer's defense turned several routine plays and catcher
Conner Coy cut down a runner attempting to steal in the second.
Guilford's Michael Riciglian (3–1) earned the win after six innings of work, giving up all five Pfeiffer runs but limiting damage in key moments.
Pfeiffer returns to action later this week when they welcome former USA South and current ODAC foe Averett University to Joe Ferebee Field. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
