Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Wins 5-2 at Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Pfeiffer University secured a 5–2 road win over Maryville College on Saturday, taking four of six singles courts to seal the nonconference men's tennis victory at the MC Tennis Courts.

Pfeiffer (5–1) opened strong in doubles when Jayden Wellman and Valter Albuquerque earned a 6–2 win at the No. 1 line. Maryville answered by taking the remaining two doubles courts—Jackson Meyer and Benjamin Schneider won 6–1 at No. 2, and Field Myatt and Grant Price claimed a 6–3 decision at No. 3—to secure the doubles point for the Scots.

Despite trailing 1–0, the Falcons surged ahead in singles. At No. 4, Bogdan Stan delivered Pfeiffer's first singles point with a 6–1, 6–4 win over Schneider. Maryville briefly extended its edge when James Smith downed Albuquerque 6–3, 6–2 at No. 1, but Pfeiffer controlled the remaining courts.

Aissultan Mukhambetov evened the match with a 6–2, 6–4 victory over Price at No. 2, and Wellman battled through a three-setter at No. 3 to defeat Myatt 6–3, 2–6, 6–4.

Pfeiffer closed out the win with two more straight-sets victories: Hugo Kezen topped Luka Romano 6–4, 6–1 at No. 5, and Aden Burgoyne completed the match with a 6–4, 6–3 result against Eric Vornhagen at No. 6.

The Falcons' depth proved decisive, as they claimed five singles courts to secure the 5–2 final. Maryville dropped to 2–3 on the season.
