Doug Smith scored 20 points and Pfeiffer used a dominant interior performance to pull away in the second half for a 79–69 USA South road win over William Peace on Wednesday night.
Smith went 8-for-10 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Falcons (11–8, 7–2 USA South), who outscored the Pacers 44–36 in the paint and shot 48 percent overall.
Sean Sucarichi added 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting, and
Justin Gaten finished with 13 points and four rebounds.
Clayton Robinson chipped in 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and hit four free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Pfeiffer led 40–37 at halftime after Robinson buried a jumper with six seconds left in the period. William Peace briefly surged ahead early in the second half, taking a 47–42 lead behind a 3-pointer from Parker Hodgson and a layup from Chuks Ezeonu. But the Falcons responded with a 15–5 run, capped by Smith's dunk and free throw at the 5:49 mark to push the margin to 68–62.
Pfeiffer forced WPU 16 turnovers and turned them into 11 points, while also scoring 15 fast-break points. The Falcons also controlled the glass, outrebounding the Pacers 36–32.
Elijah Cathcart led William Peace (7–12, 1–7 USA South) with 18 points, hitting four 3-pointers. Ezeonu added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Hodgson finished with 13 points and four assists. Shawn Jones had eight points before fouling out late.
