Pfeiffer Women Takes 73-63 Road Win at MBU

STAUNTON, Va. (Feb.7, 2026) — Nyree Bell posted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double and Pfeiffer used a dominant middle stretch to pull away for a 73–63 road win over Mary Baldwin on Saturday afternoon in USA South women's basketball play.

Pfeiffer (11-8, 8-4 USA South) outscored the Fighting Squirrels 38–25 across the second and third quarters, turning a six-point lead after one period into a 19-point cushion entering the fourth. Bell anchored the Falcons on both ends, shooting 7 of 13 from the field while adding four blocks and two steals.

Ava Hairston added 17 points and seven rebounds for Pfeiffer, while Kaileigh Gunter filled the stat sheet with nine points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Lettie Michael chipped in 11 points, including a trio of early 3-pointers that helped Pfeiffer seize momentum in the opening quarter.

Pfeiffer controlled the glass with a 51–37 rebounding advantage and converted 22 offensive boards into 18 second-chance points. The Falcons' pressure defense also forced 29 Mary Baldwin turnovers, leading to 29 points the other way.

Mary Baldwin (3–17, 2–12 USA South) was led by Shyla Williams' 17 points and 11 rebounds. DaVyne Johnson added 14 points and four steals, and Malia Bullock scored 12.
The Squirrels made a late push with a 21-12 fourth quarter but never cut the deficit to single digits.

The Falcons will return to USA South play on Monday, Feb. 9 against North Carolina Wesleyan at 6:00 p.m. in Merner Gym.
