DEMOREST, Ga. — Pfeiffer University showed flashes of momentum Saturday but ultimately fell in both matchups at The WAC, dropping a
4–1 decision to Piedmont before a
5–2 loss to Mount St. Joseph in neutral-site play.
Game 1: Mount St. Joseph 5, Pfeiffer 2
In the first game of the day, Pfeiffer struck first, scoring in the opening inning when
Heather Vaughn doubled and later came home on a ball put in play by
E.A. Nance. Vaughn starred at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base, accounting for half of Pfeiffer's eight hits.
The Lions rallied with a four-run fifth inning, taking advantage of three Pfeiffer errors and a pair of run-scoring hits. Pfeiffer added another run in the fifth when
Ky Perdue singled and later scored, but the Falcons could not close the gap.
Peyton Lane provided three strong innings in the circle, allowing no runs and just two hits.
Reese Caranna again impressed in relief, yielding just one hit across two innings.Piedmont capitalized on a passed ball and strung together key hits in the third and fifth innings to secure the win.
Game 2: Piedmont 4, Pfeiffer 1
Pfeiffer (1–4) mustered five hits but couldn't overcome Piedmont's timely offense and a pair of defensive miscues in the second game
The Falcons' lone run came in the fifth inning when
Landry Stewart delivered an RBI single, scoring
Charly Cooper, who doubled to lead off the frame. Pfeiffer threatened early with runners aboard in the second, but a double play halted the inning's momentum.

Abigail Bowman worked 5.0 innings, allowing four runs (two earned) while striking out three. Reliever
Reese Caranna was a bright spot, retiring all three batters she faced in a clean sixth inning.
Pfeiffer will return to play on Wednesday, March 4 when they open their home schedule with a doubleheader against Averett at Jack Ingram Field
