Pfeiffer Splits Road Doubleheader at N.C. Wesleyan
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (March 21, 2026) — Pfeiffer University rode timely hitting, aggressive baserunning and a strong pitching duo to earn a
3–1 win in Saturday's opener before falling
2–0 in the second game of a USA South doubleheader at N.C. Wesleyan.
Game 1: Pfeiffer 3, N.C. Wesleyan 1
Pfeiffer set the tone early, scoring twice in the first inning behind a leadoff single and stolen base from
Landry Stewart, who finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs and two steals. RBI hits from
Kirstyn Herman and
Mollie Bulla helped the Falcons jump ahead.
Bulla also anchored the Falcons in the circle, working 4.2 innings and allowing just one earned run before handing the ball to
Abigail Bowman, who retired all seven batters she faced with three strikeouts to close out the win.
Pfeiffer padded the lead in the fifth when
Heather Vaughn drove in Stewart to make it 3–1. The Falcons finished with nine hits, including contributions from Vaughn, Bulla,
Emily Dickerson and
Natalie Auman. Pfeiffer's defense turned a key double play to stall a Wesleyan threat.
Game 2: N.C. Wesleyan 2, Pfeiffer 0
Despite outhitting the Battling Bishops early and putting runners in scoring position, Pfeiffer couldn't overcome a first-inning home run by N.C. Wesleyan's Kayla Simmons, which accounted for all the scoring.
Charly Cooper went 2-for-3, and
Ky Perdue added a hit and a stolen base, but the Falcons stranded seven runners. Pfeiffer threatened in both the second and third innings, each time getting a runner to third base before N.C. Wesleyan cut down potential runs at the plate.
