GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 24, 2026) — Pfeiffer used a pair of middle-inning outbursts—first a seven-run fifth in the opener, then a six-run third in the second game—to sweep a nonconference softball doubleheader at Guilford on Tuesday, winning 7–5 and 11–8 at Haworth Field.
Game 1: Pfeiffer 7, Guilford 5
Trailing 3–0 after the first and 5–0 through four innings, Pfeiffer (16–8) erupted for seven runs in the top of the fifth, seizing control of the opener. The rally included back-to-back two-run homers from
Mollie Bulla and
Charly Cooper, along with a two-run double by
Brooke Piper and an RBI single from
Kirstyn Herman.
Guilford (10–10–1) opened the game with Kalissa Williams' three-run homer in the first, then added a Savannah Newton two-run shot in the fourth to build a 5–0 lead. But reliever
Abigail Bowman shut the door for Pfeiffer, tossing three scoreless, hitless innings with four strikeouts to earn the save.
Bulla went 2-for-3 with a homer, double and two RBI, while Stewart finished 3-for-3 with two stolen bases. Guilford was paced by Williams (3 RBI) and Newton (2 RBI).
Game 2: Pfeiffer 11, Guilford 8
In the second game, Pfeiffer again uncorked a decisive big inning—this time a six-run third—to secure the sweep. The Falcons capitalized on Guilford defensive miscues and delivered clutch extra-base hits, highlighted by E.a. Nance's RBI double, Cooper's two-run double, and
Ky Perdue's RBI single.
Guilford climbed within 9–8 after a three-run seventh, fueled by walks, wild pitches and an RBI single from Brooke Goyings, but
Mollie Bulla came on to record the final out and strand the tying run.
Nance led Pfeiffer with a 3-for-3 performance, two doubles and three RBI. Herman added two hits and three RBI, including a home run. Goyings went 4-for-5 for Guilford, while Janey Galek homered and drove in two.
