MISENHEIMER (March 27, 2026) — Pfeiffer pitching blanked Southern Virginia in both games Friday as the Falcons completed a home softball doubleheader sweep, winning 7-0 in the opener and 6-2 in the later game at Jack Ingram Field. With the sweep, Pfeiffer improves to 11-0 all-time against SVU.
In the first game,
Mollie Bulla tossed a complete-game shutout as Pfeiffer cruised to a 7-0 USA South victory. Bulla scattered six hits over 5.2 innings, striking out three without allowing a run to improve to 9-4 on the season.
The Falcons broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the third inning and then put the game away with a five-run sixth.
Kirstyn Herman delivered the big blow, a three-run homer to deep center field, while
E.A. Nance added an RBI single.
Heather Vaughn and Bulla chipped in two hits apiece as Pfeiffer capitalized on three Southern Virginia errors.
Southern Virginia managed six hits in the opener but stranded six runners. Sophia Badell went 2 for 3 to lead the Knights.
Pfeiffer made it a sweep in Game 2 behind another strong pitching effort, taking a 6-2 win in the nightcap. The Falcons scored single runs in the first and second innings before adding three runs in the fourth and another in the sixth to pull away.
Abigail Bowman earned the win for Pfeiffer, striking out seven while allowing four hits and two runs over seven innings. Sophia Badell homered for Southern Virginia to account for both Knight runs.
Pfeiffer finished with 12 hits in the second game, highlighted by Badell's two-run homer and a pair of hits from Taelor Ware. Southern Virginia scored both of its runs in the sixth inning, but Pfeiffer answered with an insurance run in the bottom half to seal the victory.
With the sweep, Pfeiffer improved to 18-8 overall and 3-1 in USA South play. Southern Virginia fell to 5-15 overall and 0-2 in conference action.
The Falcons will return to USA South play on Saturday, March 28 with a doublheader with Mary Baldwin. First pitch at Jack Ingram Field is scheduled for 11:00 am.
