BUENA VISTA, Va. (March 28 2026) —
Jack Brandle powered a relentless Pfeiffer offense, and the Falcons swept a doubleheader from Southern Virginia on Saturday, winning 16-6 and 7-4 in USA South Conference action at Charlie Manuel Field on the campus of Parry McCluer High School.
In the opener, Pfeiffer (12-13, 6-2 USA South) broke the game open early, scoring seven times in the second inning and adding six more in the fifth to turn the contest into a rout. Brandle went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs, while
Ben Mecimore added a two-run homer and drove in four as the Falcons slugged four home runs overall.
Badin Gusa chipped in a three-run homer, and
Joe Javier finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base. Pfeiffer racked up 16 runs on 13 hits and capitalized on four Southern Virginia errors.
James Eason earned the win for Pfeiffer, allowing two earned runs on six hits over five innings with four strikeouts. Southern Virginia (6-17, 3-5) starter Zack Geertsen took the loss after surrendering 11 runs — four earned — in 4.1 innings.
Seth Lloyd led the Knights with a 2-for-3 performance that included a double and three RBIs, while Ryan Farris added two hits.
The nightcap was tighter, but Pfeiffer again delivered timely offense. The Falcons struck first in the opening inning, built a 4–3 lead through five and then pulled away with a three-run seventh inning to seal the sweep.
Josh Jones delivered the decisive blow with a three-run homer in the seventh, finishing with three RBIs. Gusa homered for the second time on the day, and Mecimore reached base three times, scoring once.
Cameron Cooper picked up the win in relief for Pfeiffer, throwing two innings and allowing one run.
Josh Little closed the door in the seventh to earn the save. Southern Virginia outhit Pfeiffer 10–6 in Game 2 but stranded 10 runners.
Mason Jones had two hits and scored twice for the Knights, while Garrett Stauffer collected three hits and an RBI, but Southern Virginia could not overcome Pfeiffer's pitching and late power.
The sweep pushed Pfeiffer to 6-2 in conference play, while the Knights dropped their fifth straight USA South contest.
