ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (April 11, 2026) — Pfeiffer and N.C. Wesleyan split a USA South Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday, with the Falcons taking the opener 7-2 before the Bishops responded with an 11-6 win in the second game.
In the first game, Pfeiffer used a power surge and a steadier bullpen to pull away late.
Levi Barrett went 3 for 4 with two solo home runs and two RBIs, and
Josh Jones added a solo shot as the Falcons broke open a tight game with three runs in the eighth inning.
Ben Mecimore finished 3 for 5 with a triple and an RBI as Pfeiffer outhit N.C. Wesleyan 14-7.
Pfeiffer scored single runs in the first and second innings, added two in the sixth and then put the game away in the eighth.
Jake Blevins worked 3.2 innings in the start, allowing three hits and one earned run, before
Cameron Cooper earned the save by tossing 5.1 innings of relief and striking out six.
N.C. Wesleyan scored its two runs on a passed ball in the fourth and an RBI single in the eighth. Brady Williams went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Bishops.
In the second game, N.C. Wesleyan struck early and held off Pfeiffer rallies for the 11-6 victory. The Bishops scored six runs in the second inning and added two more in the fourth and three in the sixth to build a comfortable lead.
Schumata Brown led the way for Wesleyan, going 2 for 3 with a three-run home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Maison Nance drove in two runs, and Jackson Ellyson added two hits and an RBI. Chase Chappell earned the win on the mound, working four innings and allowing three earned runs before the bullpen closed it out.
Pfeiffer mounted a response with runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings but couldn't overcome the early deficit.
Austin Wood went a perfect 4 for 4 with two runs scored,
Joe Javier doubled and drove in two runs, and
Ethan Willard finished 2 for 4 with a double and two runs.
The split left Pfeiffer at 18-14 overall and 11-3 in conference play, while N.C. Wesleyan moved to 11-21 and 7-8 in the USA South.
Pfeiffer will welcome Methodist University to Joe Ferebee Field on Friday, April 17 for a 6:00 p.m. start in the USA South series opener.
