MISENHEIMER, N.C. (April 15, 2026) — Pfeiffer rolled to a home doubleheader sweep of William Peace on Wednesday, backing timely offense with steady pitching in a pair of USA South Conference softball wins at an unseasonably hot afternoon at Jack Ingram Field.
In the opener, Pfeiffer ended matters early with a 9-1, five-inning victory, breaking open a tight game with eight runs over the final three frames. The Falcons struck for three runs in the third and five more in the fourth to pull away after William Peace evened the score in the second on a solo home run.
Landry Stewart set the tone at the top of the order, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while
Natalie Auman finished 2-for-3 and scored twice.
Brooke Piper delivered the decisive blow with a three-run homer, and
E.A. Nance drove in two runs as part of a 2-for-3 afternoon.
Heather Vaughn added an RBI double, and
Kirstyn Herman chipped in a run-scoring hit as Pfeiffer totaled 13 hits.
Mollie Bulla earned the complete-game win, allowing two hits and one run with three strikeouts and no walks over five innings. William Peace's lone run came on Isabelle Olson's solo shot in the second inning.
Pfeiffer carried the momentum into the nightcap, closing the sweep with a 10-2, five-inning win. The Falcons again jumped ahead early and put the game out of reach with a four-run fourth inning before tacking on two more in the fifth.
Vaughn continued her strong day, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Stewart scored three times and added two hits. Herman drove in two runs, and the Falcons took advantage of patient at-bats and aggressive baserunning to pressure the Pacers' defense.
Abigail Bowman picked up the win in the circle, scattering three hits over five innings while allowing two unearned runs and striking out four.
With the sweep, Pfeiffer improved to 26-8 overall and 11-1 in USA South play, while William Peace fell to 17-17 and 5-9 in league play.
