FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (April 18, 2026) — Pfeiffer completed a convincing doubleheader road sweep of Methodist on Saturday at Price Field, closing the day with a dominant 10-0 victory highlighted by a perfect game from freshman
Abigail Bowman after opening the twinbill with a 7-1 win.
In the second game, Bowman was flawless, retiring all 21 Monarch hitters she faced to record a perfect game as the Falcons (28-8, 13-1 USA South) rolled past the Monarchs. Bowman struck out six, allowed no baserunners and needed just 77 pitches in the seven-inning shutout to secure the historic performance. This is her second no-hitter of the season and the first perfect game of her career. It is also the first perfect game for Pfeiffer.
The perfect game is the fourth for Pfeiffer using available records, and is the first for a single pitcher since Kiana Millsaps tossed an 8-0 gem against Mount Olive on March 16, 2017.
The Falcons also put together a combined perfect game against Livingstone on March 28, 2018 when Kennedy Lester, Millsaps, Kari Westerbeek and Kendra Mayes blanked the Blue Bears.
Melanie Conklin was the first Falcon to record a perfect game, using available records, as she accomplished the feat against St. Andrews on Feb. 26, 2011.
Pfeiffer backed its pitcher with 17 hits, scoring three runs in the first inning and steadily adding on with tallies in the third, fifth and seventh.
Landry Stewart went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while
Natalie Auman drove in two runs and scored twice.
Kirstyn Herman and
Micah Felts each added two RBIs, and
Devon Kelly tripled and scored twice as part of the offensive surge.
Methodist (11-25, 5-9) was limited to no hits and committed just one error, but never mounted a threat against Bowman, who induced 13 flyouts and two groundouts in the gem.
Earlier in the day, Pfeiffer broke open a tight contest with four runs in the second inning and went on to a 7-1 victory in Game 1. The Falcons collected 12 hits and swiped eight bases to control the opener.
Stewart again set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 3 for 5 with two runs and three stolen bases. Auman added two hits and an RBI, while
Brooke Piper,
Kirstyn Herman,
Emily Dickerson,
Ky Perdue and
Kylah Shifflett each drove in a run.
Peyton Lane earned the win in game one with 4.1 innings of relief, allowing just one hit and no runs.
Abigail Bowman and
Reese Caranna also contributed scoreless and closing innings, respectively, to seal the opener.
The Falcons will return to play on Tuesday, April 21 with a pivotal USA South home doubleheader against Meredith College. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Jack Ingram Field.
