MISENHEIMER, N.C. (April 21, 2026) — Pfeiffer used timely hitting in the opener and an aggressive, big-inning attack late in the second game to complete a home doubleheader sweep of Meredith College on Tuesday in USA South Conference softball play at Jack Ingram Field.
The win assures Pfeiffer will host a portion of the USA South Tournament for the sixth consecutive season.
In the opener, Pfeiffer edged Meredith 3-2 behind a complete-game effort from freshman
Abigail Bowman, who scattered six hits over seven innings, struck out seven and did not issue a walk. Bowman improved to 12-4 on the season as Pfeiffer (29-8, 14-1 USA South) held off a late Meredith rally.
Pfeiffer broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the third inning and added an insurance run in the sixth.
Emily Dickerson went 2-for-2 and drove in a run, while the Falcons made the most of their opportunities on the bases. Meredith (21-14, 13-2) got on the board on a solo home run by Lillie Davis in the second and pulled within a run in the seventh, but Pfeiffer's defense closed it out.
The nightcap belonged to Pfeiffer's offense. Pfeiffer rallied for a 9-5 victory, scoring in six consecutive innings and breaking the game open with a three-run fourth. The Falcons finished with 11 hits, three doubles and a home run while swiping eight bases.
Mollie Bulla led the way by going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs, while
Natalie Auman added two hits, scored three runs and drove in one.
Brooke Piper went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and
Kirstyn Herman chipped in a two-run double as Pfeiffer turned pressure on the basepaths into runs.
Meredith stayed close with power at the plate as Ashbee Standridge belted two home runs and drove in four runs, and Davis added a homer of her own, but the Avenging Angels could not keep pace. Bowman earned the win with four solid innings before Pfeiffer's staff finished the job.
With the sweep, Pfeiffer improved to 30-8 overall and 15-1 in conference play, tightening its grip atop the USA South standings, while Meredith slipped to 21-15 and 13-3.
The Falcons will close the regular season with a road trip to Brevard College for a doubleheader on Friday, April 24. One win over the Tornados will clinch the USA South Regular Season title for the fourth consecutive season.
