MISENHEIMER, N.C. (April 19, 2026). — Methodist erupted for nine runs in the seventh inning Sunday to pull away from Pfeiffer University to win 22-9 at Joe Ferebee Field.

Pfeiffer (19-16, 12-5 USA South) showed resilience throughout the afternoon, scoring in three separate innings and collecting 15 hits, but could not slow a Methodist lineup that produced 20 hits and five home runs.

The Falcons generated momentum early with a four-run second inning. Levi Barrett doubled in a run, Badin Gusa scored on a wild pitch, and Tony Mejias lined an RBI double before Ben Mecimore drove in another with a single up the middle to trim the deficit to 6-4.

Pfeiffer continued to chip away in the fifth when Jack Brandle connected on a two-run homer to left, his fifth of the season, and again in the sixth with a three-run frame highlighted by an RBI single from Austin Wood, a sacrifice fly by Joe Javier, and a leadoff solo home run from Josh Jones.

Brandle finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Mejias went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Wood added two hits and an RBI, and Barrett contributed a double and RBI as part of Pfeiffer's balanced offensive effort.

Methodist (17-19, 12-6) answered every Falcon rally and broke the game open in the seventh, plating nine runs behind a barrage of extra-base hits. Austin Rinzel went 5-for-6 with five RBIs, while Israel Ortiz drove in six runs and homered twice to lead the Monarchs.

Pfeiffer used five pitchers on the day. Starter Cayman Buck was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs in the opening inning. Josh Little provided 3.2 innings of relief, and Andrew Bruss recorded a strikeout to close the game despite the late Methodist surge.

Pfeiffer returns to conference play later this week as Southern Virginia visits Joe Ferebee Field to complete their conference series from the postponed game on March 27.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
