MISENHEIMER, N.C. (May 2, 2026) —
Levi Barrett hit a three-run home run in a four-run fifth inning, and Pfeiffer pulled away from Southern Virginia for a 7-3 victory on Saturday afternoon to advance to the USA South Championship series for the first time in program history.
Barrett finished 1 for 4 with three RBI and two runs, delivering the game's biggest swing by turning a one-run deficit into a 4-2 Falcon lead. Pfeiffer (23–20) added two more runs in the sixth and an insurance run in the eighth to secure the win.
Tony Mejias went 3 for 4 with two RBI and two runs, and
Jack Brandle added three hits and scored twice as Pfeiffer totaled 11 hits, eight walks and two home runs. Connor Coy drove in a run, walked twice and stole a base as the Falcons repeatedly pressured Southern Virginia pitching.
Pfeiffer's reliever Skylay Fairclote earned the win, allowing just one run on two hits in 1.1 innings of work.
Cameron Cooper closed the door with three innings of relief, surrendering one run while recording the save, his second of the season.
Southern Virginia (14–29) struck first with two runs in the fifth and added a run in the seventh, but never regained momentum after Barrett's grand slam. Marcelino Leonardo Jr. led the Knights with a home run and two RBI, while the pitching staff was undone by the decisive fifth inning.
Pfeiffer advances to the USA South Championship Series and will await the winner of game between top-seeded Greensboro and fifth-seeded William Peace. A Greensboro win will force the Falcons to travel, while a William Peace win would allow the Falcons to host the league series.
