WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Sept. 11, 2026) — Pfeiffer fought Carolina U closely in the opening and closing sets, but the Falcons were unable to overcome the host Bruins in a 3-0 nonconference loss Saturday afternoon. Carolina U claimed the match by scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-22.
The Falcons stayed within striking distance throughout the contest, recording 19 ties and 11 lead changes across the three sets. Pfeiffer led late in the first set before Carolina U closed on a 4-0 run, and the Falcons rallied from a seven-point deficit in the third set before the hosts pulled away to secure the sweep.
Jada Thomas and
Anasty Faavesi paced the Pfeiffer attack with 10.0 and 10.5 points, respectively. Thomas finished with seven kills and a match-high three solo blocks, while Faavesi added eight kills and three total blocks.
Setter
Karmen Rion directed the offense with 16 assists, two service aces and 11 digs for Pfeiffer.
Gabi Gama contributed six kills and a team-high 13 digs, while libero
Molly Wright added 14 digs.
Meagan Mowrey chipped in 10 digs and two aces.
Carolina U was led by Madison Kilgore , who totaled 10 kills, while Corinne Cutter posted seven kills on a .545 hitting percentage and four blocks. Natalia Cano and Martina Rivolta combined for 32 assists as the Bruins finished with 42 kills and a .153 team hitting percentage.
As a team, Pfeiffer recorded 25 kills, four service aces, 70 digs and seven total blocks but was limited to a .054 attacking percentage.
