ATLANTA, Ga. (Sept. 5, 2026)) — Pfeiffer came within a handful of points of a perfect turnaround Saturday, pushing both matches to five sets before falling to LaGrange and Huntingdon at Woodruff Arena.
In the opener, Pfeiffer rallied from a two-set deficit and forced a decisive fifth set before dropping a 25-21, 25-13, 26-28, 26-28, 16-14 decision to LaGrange. The Falcons showed resilience by winning back-to-back extra-point sets to extend the match.
Emma Line led the offensive effort with 14 kills, while
Gabi Gama added 13 kills and 23 digs for a double-double.
Leigan Lusk chipped in 10 kills on a team-best .391 hitting percentage and totaled five blocks. Setters
Karmen Rion and
Kelsey Hussey combined for 35 assists as Pfeiffer finished with 54 kills and 102 digs.
The Falcons erased multiple late deficits in the third and fourth sets. In the third, kills from Gama,
Jada Thomas and Lusk helped secure a 28-26 win. Pfeiffer matched that score in the fourth set, getting key production from Thomas, Gama and
Kennedy Donley to force the fifth.
Later in the day, Pfeiffer again battled to five sets but came up short against Huntingdon, falling 25-18, 14-25, 25-21, 16-25, 15-11.
Emma Line paced the Falcons with 11 kills, three service aces and 16 digs. Gama and Thomas each added 10 kills, while Donley contributed seven kills.
Molly Wright anchored the defense with 20 digs, and Rion handed out 16 assists with two aces.
Pfeiffer dominated the second and fourth sets, using balanced offense and aggressive serving to keep the match even. The Falcons recorded 11 service aces in the match, including three from Line, but Huntingdon pulled away late in the fifth set to secure the victory.
For the day, Gama totaled 23 kills and 35 digs across the two matches, while Line added 25 kills, five aces and 22 digs. Thomas contributed 20 kills and six total blocks as Pfeiffer continued to show improvement despite the pair of narrow five-set losses.
