BRISTOL, TN - The No. 1 Pfeiffer men's soccer team (15-0, 9-0 CC) remained perfect with a decisive 3-0 victory at King (5-7-2, 4-3-2) on Saturday afternoon. Junior forward Nathan Regis scored all three goals for the Falcons who clinch home field advantage in the upcoming Conference Carolinas Tournament with the victory.
"We had to work harder than we wanted to today but I think Coach Miglarese prepared his kids really well," commented Head Coach Bob Reasso. "We were sluggish in the first half but stepped it up in the second half. You have to give credit to King for playing very hard."
The Tornado entered play with 17 goals on the season, the same amount as Regis had all year. The difference today was Regis added to his season total, while the Tornado stayed stuck on 17.
In the 19th minute, Regis tallied the eventual game winning goal off an assist from Santi Moar. Moar 's helper was the fifth straight game that the sophomore recorded an assist and upped his season total to nine on the year.
Regis completed the hat trick with two goals in the final 10 minutes. In the 82nd minute, Regis took a cross from Martim Galvao to give the Falcons a 2-0 advantage. The third strike came in the final minute with the assist going to Juan Sanchez.
The Falcons continued their dominance of Conference Carolinas opponents with the shutout. In conference matches, Pfeiffer is outscoring opponents 31-3 and have allowed only one goal in their last seven conference contests.
The Falcons posted their second consecutive shot total of 30 or more as they outshot King 31-9 on the day. Tomas Correa improved to 6-0 on the year by making four saves, many of which came in the final moments after the match was out of reach.
With the win, the path to the 2015 Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship will go through Misenheimer. Should the Falcons win their quarterfinal matchup, N.E. Lefko Field will host the semifinals and finals on November 5-7 with the Falcons looking to defend last year's Conference Tournament title.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Wednesday night as they have a non-conference battle against Catawba at 7:30 p.m.
