Two More Records Fall as No. 1 Falcons Defeat Barton in Quarterfinal

MISENHEIMER, NC- The Pfeiffer men's soccer team set yet another record on Tuesday night, picking up a school record 18th win of the season, a 5-0 victory over Barton in the Conference Carolinas quarterfinal. Junior forward Nathan Regis scored his school-record 23rd goal of the year in the 69th minute of the match as the Falcons improved to 18-0.

It only took the Falcons 7:42 to strike first when Regis passed a through ball to Santi Moar who scored in the top right corner giving Pfeiffer the 1-0 advantage. Following a Barton foul, Martim Galvao scored on a free kick from 25 yards out, bending the ball into the top right corner recording his seventh goal of the season.

Pfeiffer absolutely dominated the second half. Roberto Soares started the second stanza out with a goal at the 59 minute mark. Ten minutes later, Mateo Garces Yepes delivered a through ball to Regis who beat the keep bottom right to break the mark for strikes in a season. The prior high was set in 1965 when David Smith scored 22 times. Paco Cortez Vazquez delivered the final blow, scoring his first goal of the season with a shot from 30 yards out beating the keeper top right.

The Falcons outshot Barton 21-3 and the Bulldogs only recorded one shot on goal the entire evening. Freshman keeper Tomas Correa improved his recorded to 9-0 on the season as Pfeiffer recorded their 10th shutout of the year, one shy of tying last year's mark.

This is the second year in a row Pfeiffer has bested Barton in the Conference Tournament. Last season, the Falcons topped the Bulldogs 6-0 in the Semifinal en route to a tournament title.

With the victory, Pfeiffer will host the semifinal and finals of the conference tournament and look to repeat as champions. The Falcons will take on Mount Olive in the semifinal match at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6.
