NEWBERRY, S.C. - The 2016 D2CCA Men's Soccer All-Southeast Region team has been announced with six Falcons earning the honor. Nathan Regis, Jaime Siaj, Martim Galvao and Dani Siaj earned a First Team distinction and are now eligible to become All-Americans. Regis was also named Regional Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and Tomas Correa and Santi Moar were Second Team selections.
This marks Regis' third D2CCA First Team All-Region honor. In his senior season, Regis was named Conference Carolinas Player of the Year for second straight year and won Conference Carolinas Tournament MVP for third straight season after scoring hat trick in championship game against Limestone. He was named NSCAA National Player of the Week once and is second in the nation with 24 goals. Regis leads the nation with 58 points and is second in Division II with nine game winning goals.
Jaime Siaj earned his second consecutive First Team honor with a strong senior campaign. Siaj was also named First Team All-Conference and is second in the nation with 54 points. Siaj also ranks fourth in the nation in assists and scored at least one goal in five straight matches from Oct 12-26. There has only been three matches all year where he didn't record a point.
2016 marks the third straight First Team All-Region selection for midfielder Galvao. Also this season, Martim was named First Team All-Conference and is third in nation with 15 assists. Galvao was named to the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament team and had a stretch of 10 straight matches with at least one assist.
Lastly, Dani Siaj's First Team All-Region selection was the first of his career. Last year, Siaj was a second team performer but a dominating senior season pushed him up to First Team status. Dani was named Conference Carolinas Defender of the Year and also First Team All-Conference. Siaj anchored a backline that posted seven consecutive shutouts from October 1 to October 22 and held opponents scoreless for 681 consecutive minutes. Behind the leadership of Siaj, the Falcons only allowed four goals in league play.
Moar (14g, 19a) earned Second Team honors along with goalkeeper Correa (0.72 GAA).
The Falcons return to action on Friday night as they travel to Wingate for a 7 p.m. match. The winner claims the Southeast Regional title and moves on to Sunday's Elite 8 contest.
