The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2016 College Division All-State Men's Soccer Teams on Wednesday. 21 players from five different North Carolina institutions were named to the 2016 NCCSIA College Division All-State Teams.
Both Pfeiffer and Wingate had eight selections from their respective teams, with the Bulldogs placing six on the first team and the Falcons putting five players on the first team. Lenoir-Rhyne had three players on the All-State teams, while Queens and Guilford each put one player on the distinguished list.
Dani Siaj was selected as a first-team defender for 2016. The Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, Siaj was the centerpiece of a Pfeiffer defense that allowed 0.82 goals against and helped lead the Falcons to a 19-3 record and a third straight Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship.
Jorge Buzzo and Martim Galvao were named as the first-team midfielders. Galvao recorded 15 assists and five goals during the season and Buzzo had one goal and three assists as both were named to the Conference Carolinas All-Conference First Team.
Pfeiffer's duo of Nathan Regis and Jaime Siaj were selected as the first-team forwards, as a tie in total votes placed. Regis was the 2016 Conference Carolinas Player of the Year after scoring 24 goals and dishing out 10 assists, totaling 58 points to lead all players in NCAA Division II. Siaj, an All-Conference Carolinas First-Team pick, was second in the NCAA with 54 points after totaling 19 goals and 16 assists.
The NCCSIA All-State second-team is comprised of Pfeiffer's Cristobal Allendes, Tomas Correa and Santi Moar, Wingate's Jon Ander and Vincente Munoz, Lenoir-Rhyne's Marc Fernandez and Tom Seery, Queens' Corey Brown, and Guilford's Ricky Aguilar.
Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, softball, and baseball.
