MOUNT OLIVE, NC – On Saturday at Kornegay Arena, the Mount Olive Trojans (13-3, 10-1 CC) outshot the Pfieffer Falcons (5-10, 3-8 CC), 50% to 34% in their 85-64 win. Sydni Bickford led all Falcon scorers with 17 points with four three pointers.
Offensively, the Falcons were never able to get it closer than seven points after one quarter of play as they struggled from the floor 26% from the field and 3-for-11 from beyond the arc while Mount Olive shot 44% from the field and 2-for-4 from three as finished with a 21-14 lead.
Pfeiffer improved their second quarter shooting as they went 5-for-12 from the field but were plagued by 12 second quarter turnovers. The Trojans extended their lead out to 19 points, 45-26, as they shot 10-for-17 from the field for 59%
Dajea Scott's six points in the third quarter helped the Falcons to cut the Mount Olive lead late in the third to 15 points but were unable to get any closer. The Trojans were able to grow their lead once again and eventually putting away Pfeiffer by 21 points.
Meg Pritchard (13) and Lauren Janka (11) also were in double figure scoring for Pfeiffer.
Mount Olive had four players in double figures: Ni'ya Styles (27), Daria Simmons (23), Kiara Jones (15), Felicity Havens (15)
The Falcons return to action on Tuesday January, 24th as they travel to Southern Wesleyan for a Conference Carolinas match-up starting at 5:30 p.m.
