MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer men's soccer team (4-6-1) suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of N.C. Wesleyan (9-5) on a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field. Pfeiffer put together a strong second half and nearly completed the comeback but couldn't prevent the Battling Bishops from winning their eighth straight. 

The Battling Bishops jumped ahead in the 15th minute off a giveaway in the defensive third. Kobi Boompong collected the turnover and beat the keeper 1-on-1. In the 27th minute, Boompong found Jordan Davis for the eventual game-winner. For the half, N.C. Wesleyan outshot Pfeiffer 10-4. 

The Falcons made a bunch of halftime adjustments and changed the momentum. Caleb Bratager took a cross from Chris Brown and cut the deficit to 2-1  in the 53rd minute. Pfeiffer battled the rest of the way but were unable to find the equalizer. 

After being outshot 10-4 in the opening half, Pfeiffer held a 6-3 lead in shots in the second half. 

Each team committed 18 fouls on the afternoon and N.C. Wesleyan got two yellow cards. The Falcons held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks in the match. 

Tomas Correa recorded five saves in the losing effort. 

The Falcons return to action tomorrow afternoon as they host William Peace at 1 p.m.
