Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Wins Wild 1-0 Overtime Match Over Methodist

Misenheimer, N.C. –
The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team got a goal from senior Eddie Pinion just three minutes into the first overtime to take a 1-0 win over visiting Methodist at a chilly Lefko Field on Wednesday night.

After battling through a physical regulation length match that yielded few shots on goal for either side, Pfeiffer was able to push the ball ahead early into the extra frame to create the scoring chance.

With a crowd inside the box, sophomore Kyle Kamm (Sneads Ferry, N.C.) directed a header that bounced off the bottom portion of the crossbar. Kamm was able to take the rebound and headed it to Pinion, who slid it past Methodist goalkeeper Scott Brecke for his first goal of the season, sending the Falcons to the 1-0 win and into a wild celebration on the sideline.

Pinion's shot was just the third on goal for the Falcons on the evening, but it was enough to improve the Falcons mark to 8-8 overall and 4-7 in USA South matches.  Methodist dropped to 7-7-2 overall and 4-5-2 in league play.

The Falcons will close out the regular season on the road at Berea on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11:00 a.m.
