Greensboro Deals Pfeiffer Men's Soccer a 2-1 Weather-Shortened Loss

Greensboro, N.C. (Sept. 26, 2018) – Despite jumping ahead 1-0, the Pfeiffer University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Greensboro College in a weather-shortened USA South match on Wednesday afternoon.

Pfeiffer's Enrique Vargas gave the Falcons to 1-0 lead in the 41st minute after he took a pass from Arian Cindahl and slotted into the right corner just past the Pride goalkeeper from inside the 18-yard box.

The Falcons held the lead for nearly 17 minutes until Greensboro's Darli Mihindou scored unassisted into the bottom left corner at the 58th minute.

William Curry gave Greensboro the 2-1 lead in the 80th minute on a pass from
Pedro Perez- Rodriguez.

With Pfeiffer pushing in the late stages of the match, officials at Greensboro called the players off the field due to lightning with 2:21 remaining.  After a lengthy delay, the officials called the match, giving Greensboro the win.

The loss drops Pfeiffer to 3-4 on the season and 0-3 in USA South play while Greensboro improves their record to 4-2 and 2-1 in conference play.

Pfeiffer will look to rebound on Saturday, Sept. 29 when it hosts Covenant in a 3:00 p.m. match as part of homecoming at Lefko Field.
