Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Opens Season with 5-4 Home Win Over Guilford
Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 27, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University men's tennis team opened the 2021-22 season with a 5-4 win over ODAC foe Guilford College on Saturday, Sept. 25 on Homecoming Day at the Knapp Tennis Center in Misenheimer, N.C.

THE BASICS
The Falcons jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches. At No. 1,
Dylan Masters (Mooresville, N.C.) and
Benedikt Pfeiffer (Schliersee, Germany) took their win 8-3.Â
Andres Valdez-Arce (Bogota, Boliva) and
Aleix Garrido (Catalunya, Spain) won a close 8-6 match at No. 2. In the final doubles match,
Phillip Conaway (Sharpsburg, Ga.) and
Alec Taylor (Mooresville, N.C.) cruised to an 8-2 win.
In singles play, Guilford took four of the six singles matches. The deciding match came at No. 5 singles, with Valdez-Arce claiming a 7-5, 7-5 win over Tye Sasser to give Pfeiffer the 5-4 team win. Taylor was the other Falcon winner in singles play, taking down Guilford's Evan Wong at No. 4 by a 6-3, 7-5 score.
BACK ON COURT
Pfeiffer will continue fall play on Sunday, Oct. 10 with a pair of matches. In the first match, Pfeiffer will travel to Brevard for a 10:00 a.m. match and will follow that with a neutral site match against Mars Hill at 2:00 p.m. That match will also be contested at Brevard College.
