Pfeiffer Cross Country Races in High Point VertCross Invitational

Kernersville, N.C. (Oct. 15, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University Cross Country teams raced in their final tune-up before the USA South Championships on Friday night at the High Point University VertCross Invitational at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, N.C.

Pfeiffer's Madison Lowery (Kannapolis, N.C.) paced the Falcons once again, posting a 14^th place finish out of 78 runners on the 6,000-meter course.  Lowery managed a 22:42.2, which was second-fastest among Division III participants in the primarily Division I field.

Micah Welborn (High Point, N.C.) placed 53^rd overall with a 26:19.4 as the next highest Falcon finisher.  Jessie Sherrill (Hickory, N.C.) notched her career best on a 6k course by finishing in 40:30.9, improving her 6k time by over two minutes

For the Pfeiffer men, freshman Sawyer Helms (Mt. Pleasant, N.C.), last week's USA South Rookie Runner of the Week, finished as the top Falcon by completing the 8,000-meter course in 29:24.2.  Trent Rivers (China Grove, N.C.) would come in 77^th with a 30:51.0 while Cole Huggins (Trinity, N.C.) was 80^th with a 31:00.2
