UVa Wise Takes Win Over Pfeiffer Men's Basketball
Wise, Va. (Nov. 15, 2022) – UVa.-Wise shot a blistering 59.2% from the field and hit 12 three-pointers in a 117-76 nonconference men's basketball win over Pfeiffer University on Tuesday night in Wise, Va.
Pfeiffer freshman
Doug Smith (Badin, N.C.) scored 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Pfeiffer. Smith was 6-of-10 from the field and also had a pair of blocks and a steal.
Sophomore
Daymon Beckwith (Jacksonville, N.C.) was the only other Pfeiffer player in double-figures, as he scored 11 points on the night. Beckwith would go 4-of-6 from the field while hitting three from long range. Beckwith also had an assist on the night.
As a team, the Falcons shot 40% from the field (28-of-70) and 27.6% (8-of-29) from beyond the arc.
UVa-Wise coerced Pfeiffer into 16 turnovers while converting those miscues into 26 points.
The Cavaliers' got 18 points from Grayson Honaker while teammates Luke Lawson and Bradley Dean each had 14 points in the win. All told, each Cavalier player that saw action scored in the contest.
Pfeiffer will hit the road for their next game on Friday, Nov. 18 when they travel to former USA South foe Covenant College. Tipoff from Lookout Mountain, Ga. Is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
