Pfeiffer Softball Splits Day One at Grand Slam Triangle Classic
Raleigh, N.C. (Feb. 25, 2022) – Pfeiffer University split a pair of games on day one of the Grand Slam Triangle Softball Classic hosted by William Peace University at the Walnut Creek Complex in Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday.

Game 1 –Arcadia def. Pfeiffer, 3-2
Game 2 – Pfeiffer def. Denison, 11-6

How it Happened – Game 1 vs. Arcadia
Arcadia scored three runs in the sixth inning to open the scoring. The first run came on a Pfeiffer wild pitch while an RBI single gave Arcadia the 2-0 lead. The final run of the inning came on a passed ball, providing the 3-0 lead.
Pfeiffer responded in the bottom of the sixth when
Kyndell Warren (Lenoir, N.C.) laced an RBI double, scoring
Ashlyn Kennedy (New London, N.C.), trimming the lead to 3-1.
Pfeiffer got another run in the seventh on a two-out RBI single from
Hannah Tyner (Carthage, N.C.) but a foul out ended the Pfeiffer bid to tie the game, with Arcadia earning the win in their first game of the season.
Senior
Caiti Mickles (Boonville, N.C.) pitched 5.1 innings giving up two runs and striking out five batters in the loss.
Game 2
In game two, Pfeiffer fell behind 4-1 after three innings, but had a big fifth inning, highlighted by
Peyton Farley (Cocoa, Fla.) who collected her first career home run, a grand slam, put Pfeiffer up 7-4.
Denison had a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth to draw to 7-6, but Pfeiffer extended the lead to 9-6 in the sixth inning on an
Emma Chopko (Mooresville, N.C.) double and a
Mattie Hinson (Norwood, N.C.) RBI single.
Pfeiffer then added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh on a Warren single followed by a sacrifice fly from
Taylor Parrish (Rockingham, N.C.)
Mickles earned the win by pitching 2.1 innings allowing just one hit while Kennedy got her first save of the season.
