Pfeiffer Softball Finishes USA South Play With Sweep of Southern Virginia

How it Happened – Game 1
Leading 2-1, Pfeiffer put up 11 runs in the fourth inning on the visiting Knights. In the frame, Pfeiffer sent 15 batters to the plate, with senior
Alexis Walter delivering a double and
Kyndell Warren blasting a three-run home run. All-told, Pfeiffer battered SVU pitching for 11 hits in the inning.
Freshman
Emma Bullin then came in to retire the side in order to end the game.
Pitcher Ashlynn Kennedy improved to 15-2 on the season in the circle, pitching four innings, allowing just one run while striking out a pair of batters.
Game 2
Senior
Caiti Mickles belted a grand slam in the first inning to give the Falcons the early 4-0 lead. An RBI single from Kennedy in the second followed by a two-RBI double from freshman
Gracie Griffin pushed the Falcon lead to 7-0.
The lead would grow to 7-0 in the third inning on an
Hannah Tyner RBI single followed by a Kennedy RBI single, to make it 9-0.
Pfeiffer would score their tenth run of the game in the fourth with an
Alexis Walter single.
Haley Strange would issue a walk in the fifth inning, but would then retire the next three batters to end the game.

Pfeiffer will complete the regular season with a home nonconference doubleheader with Ferrum College on Monday, April 25. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
