Pfeiffer Softball Continues Winning Ways With DH Sweep at N.C. Wesleyan
Misenheimer, N.C. (April 3, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University softball team continued their winning ways in taking both ends of a USA South softball doubleheader at North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday in Rocky Mount, N.C.

How it Happened – Game 1
Pfeiffer got on the board in the first inning as
Mattie Hinson continued to hit the ball well, as she laced an RBI single to center field to put Pfeiffer up 1-0. N.C. Wesleyan took the brief 2-1 lead in the second inning, but a three-run outburst in the third inning put the Falcons ahead 4-2.
After the Bishops closed the 4-3 in the third, Pfeiffer had another big inning, this time in the fourth frame when five more runs crossed, putting the Falcons up 9-3. Another run in the fifth inning provided the eventual 10-3 final.
All told, Pfeiffer hit five doubles in the game, with
Alexis Walter going 1-of-4 with three RBI.Â
Mattie Hinson went 2-of-3 with a pair of RBI while teammate
Ashlyn Kennedy went 2-of-2 on the game, scoring three times.
Freshman pitcher
Emma Bullin earned the win, throwing five innings allowing just two hits while striking out four NCWC batters.
Game 2
In game two, Hinson was 3-of-4 from the plate and had seven RBI in the 9-0 win. Hinson had a two-run homer in the sixth inning to put Pfeiffer up 5-0 and followed with a grand slam in the seventh inning to pace Pfeiffer to the eventual 9-0 win.
Kennedy pitched the complete game shutout for Pfeiffer to improve to 9-1 on the season. Kennedy allowed just three hits in game two while fanning eight NCWC batters in the win.
