Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Returns to USA South Championship Game After 15-6 Win Over Piedmont
Buena Vista, Va. (May 6, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team used a strong second quarter to distance themselves from No. 3 seeded Piedmont University in taking a 15-6 win in the semifinals of the USA South Tournament at Knights Stadium in Buena Vista, Va.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After leading 3-1 after the end of the first quarter, Pfeiffer used a four-goal outburst in the second quarter while shutting out Piedmont in the quarter in taking a commanding 7-1 lead into halftime.
Piedmont did score the first two goals of the third quarter to draw to 7-3, but Pfeiffer responded with an unassisted
Mason Tardiff goal at 6:44 to go up 8-3.
Piedmont would close to 9-6 after the third quarter, but Pfeiffer then went on another run, this one a five-goal spurt in the fourth quarter while once again holding Piedmont scoreless in taking the 15-6 win, advancing to the USA South Championship Game for the second consecutive year.

Sophomore
Quinn Becraft and freshman
Tyler Ajemian each scored four goals each for Pfeiffer, with Becraft also providing a pair of assists.
Senior
Treven King also had three goals in the win with teammates Aidan Keenan,
Jaylin Jones, Tardiff and
Colin Thornton each registering a goal apiece.
Faceoff specialist
Tucker Hill was once again dominant, as he was 17-of-24 on faceoffs with a team-best 10 ground balls.Â
Nick Pekins had five ground balls with Jones finishing with four.
Pfeiffer also caused five Lion turnovers on the day with five different Falcon players contributing to the defensive effort.

Matt Stocks made 10 saves on the afternoon while facing 25 shots.
