Pfeiffer Cross Country Runs at CNU Regional Preview

Newport News, Va. (Sept. 18, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University Cross Country teams returned to competition on Friday, Sept. 16 as they took part in the CNU Regional Preview in Newport News, Va.

The races were held at the Lee Hall Mansion, which is the site of the NCAA Division III South Regional Championships that will be held this upcoming Nov. 12.

Pfeiffer's Madison Lowery continued her early season success, as she finished in ninth place in the field of 167 runners.  Her time of 22:55.7 over the 6-kilometer course was the fastest upon runners in the USA South, which included teams from Meredith, N.C. Wesleyan, Southern Virginia and William Peace.

Additionally, her time was the third-fastest in the meet amongst NCAA Division III competition.

As a team, Pfeiffer finished 11th in the 17 team field.

For the men, freshman Sawyer Helms (Mt. Pleasant, N.C.) was the top Pfeiffer finisher.  His time of 29:13.3 on the 8-kilometer course placed him in 94^th place in the field of 165 competitors.   The Pfeiffer men's team would finish in 13^th place out of 20 teams.
