Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Ties With Piedmont, 1-1

Demorest, Ga. (Sept 18, 2022) – A pair of penalty kick goals was the difference as Pfeiffer University and Piedmont University battled to a 1-1 tie in a nonconference men's soccer match on Saturday in Demorest, Ga.

How It Happened
Pfeiffer junior Nigel Johnson (Charlotte, N.C.) converted a penalty kick at 31:08 of the first half to stake the Falcons to a 1-0 lead.

That lead would hold until 77:30, when the Lions' Jason Ausson scored his second goal of the season, also on a penalty kick, tying the game at 1-1.

Neither team would be able to post the game-winner in the remaining minutes, with both teams settling for the tie.

Pfeiffer outshout the host Lions 19-18, with six of the Falcon shots coming on goal compared to just three for Piedmont.

Pfeiffer goalkeeper Ali Jaafar (Matthews, N.C.) made a pair of saves on the afternoon while his Piedmont counterpart, Bobby Wood, had five stops.
