Pfeiffer Volleyball Falls 3-0 in Season Opener at Guilford

Greensboro, N.C. (Sept. 2, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team opened the 2022 season with a 3-0 loss at ODAC foe Guilford on Thursday evening at Ragan-Brown Field House on the Guilford College campus.

Pfeiffer hit for just a .104 percentage on the match while homestanding Guilford countered with a .234 hitting percentage.

The Falcons were led by senior Madison Honeycutt (Arroyo Grande, Cal.) as she had a team best nine kills on the afternoon.  Junior teammate Morgan Shrader (Matthews, N.C.) had eight kills.  Also aiding in the Falcon offensive attack was senior setter Kira Suttles (Morganton, N.C.), as she dished a team-high 15 assists.

Defensively, freshman Gabby Edwards (Catawba, N.C.) had 14 digs in her collegiate debut while senior Mattie Burris (Misenheimer, N.C.) had a pair of solo blocks and a pair of block assists.

Up Next
The Falcons will open their home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 3 with a tri-match against Guilford and Randolph in Merner Gym.  The Falcons and Quakers will begin at Noon, followed by the matchup between Randolph and Guilford at 2:00 p.m..  Pfeiffer will close the day with a match against Randolph at 4:00 p.m.
