Pfeiffer Men's Golf Places Third at Don Scalf Invitational
Rocky Mount, N.C. (Sept. 20, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University men's golf team finished in third place at the season-opening Don Scalf Invitational held at the Belmont Lakes Golf Club in Rocky Mount, N.C.
Pfeiffer shot a two-day total of 601 (+25) to finish just one stroke behind host and second-place N.C. Wesleyan. Sandhills Community College took the tournament win after shooting a 14-under 562.
The Falcons were led by junior
Quin Foster (Lexington, N.C.) as he shot a two-day total of 148 (74-74) to finish at four-over par for the event, which earned him a tie for seventh place overall. Foster had a par-5 scoring average of 4.63 for the event and made six birdies.
Freshman
Brandon Allen (Windsor, Ontario) finished in 13
th place in his first collegiate event. His two-day score of 150 (77-73) was six-over par. Fellow freshman
Lapo D'amato (Rimini, Italy) was not far behind as he carded a 151 (78-73) to finish tied for 14
th place at seven-over par.
All told, no Pfeiffer golfer shot over 82 in any round and all six Falcon participants finished in the top-30 with four players finishing in the top-20
The team score of 601 is the lowest for a Pfeiffer team since March 3, 2021, when the Falcons shot a 593 at the Pfeiffer Invitational at Hilton Head Lakes in Hardeeville, S.C.
