Fayetteville, N.C. (Oct. 11, 2023) --The Pfeiffer University volleyball team fell to the Methodist Monarchs in straight sets (19-25, 12-25, 13-25) on Wednesday evening on the road at the Riddle Center.
The loss dropped Pfeiffer's record to 6-11 overall and 1-9 in USA South play.
Sophomore Madison Tate finished with five kills on the day to lead the Falcons attack. got 13 digs from Gabby Edwards to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Falcons found themselves in an early hole, dropping a tough first set 25-19. Pfeiffer trailed by as many as six points as Methodist grabbed the advantage for good at 14-13 in a set that was tied up nine times before the Monarchs took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Pfeiffer then lost the second set 25-12 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Pfeiffer trailed by as many as 13 points as Methodist grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was tied up four times before the Monarchs took over the lead.
SET 3 | Pfeiffer could not win set three and was swept by Methodist. The Falcons lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before falling in the set 25-13.

Pfeiffer will travel to Raleigh, N.C. for a USA South tri-match hosted by Meredith College on Saturday, Oct. 14. The Falcons will take on Southern Virginia at 2:00 p.m. and will follow with a 4:00 match with host Meredith.
