Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Drops Spring Season Opener 5-4 to Hampden-Sydney

Charlotte, N.C. (Feb. 11, 2023)– The Pfeiffer University men's tennis team opened the 2023 spring season with a narrow 5-4 loss to Hampden-Sydney College at the Charlotte Indoor Tennis Club.

THE BASICS
Hanpden-Sydney's Barrett Foster clinched the 5-4 win for the Tigers at No. 1 singles in downing the Falcons' Benedikt Pfeiffer (Schilersee, Germany) by a 6-2, 6-3 score.

The Falcons were winners at the Nos. 2, 4 and 5 matches, as well as the No. 3 doubles matches.

Dylan Masters (Mooresville, N.C.) opened his 2023 season as a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 winner over HSC's Dillon McReynolds at No. 2.  Teammate Andres Valdez-Arze (Bogota, Bolivia) claimed the 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 win at No. 4 singles and Bogdan Stan (Kitchener, Ontario) won his first match wearing the Black and Yellow at No. 5 singles, taking the match by a 6-1, 7-6 final.

In doubles, the team of Stan and Laurin Rauer (Melle, Germany) was the only Pfeiffer team to win, taking their match at No. 3 by an 8-6 score.

BACK ON COURT
Pfeiffer will look to notch their first win of the young season on Wednesday, Feb. 15 with a 2:00 p.m. home match at the Knapp Tennis Center against Randolph College.
