Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Has No Trouble in 9-0 Sweep Over Randolph

Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 15, 2023)– The Pfeiffer University men's tennis picked up their first win of the season, downing visiting Randolph 9-0 in convincing fashion on Wednesday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center.

THE BASICS
Pfeiffer won all nine matches on the day, with the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles matches concluding with identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.

After winning all three doubles matches, junior Clay Patton (Lubbock, Texas) put Pfeiffer ahead 4-0 after winning his No. 6 singles match over Noah Carney 6-0, 6-0.

Pfeiffer newcomer Mateo Songalia (La Paz, Bolivia) won 6-0, 6-0 in his first career match at No. 4 singles to clinch the team win for Pfeiffer.  Laurin Rauer (Melle, Germany) also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 for the Falcons.

Senior Benedikt Pfeiffer (Schliersee, Germany) won the No. 1 match over Randolph's Dev Mani, 6-2, 6-3  Fellow senior Dylan Masters (Mooresville, N.C.) came away with the 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 over Angelo De Asis and freshman Bogdan Stan (Kitchener, Ontario) claimed the 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 3 over Jose Merhej.

BACK ON COURT
Pfeiffer will continue play on home courts this upcoming Saturday, Feb. 18 with a 10:00 a.m. match with Piedmont University.
