Falcon Women's Tennis Takes Down William Peace, 7-2

Pfeiffer Women's Tennis Downs William Peace, 7-2
Misenheimer, N.C. (April 24, 2023) – The Pfeiffer University women's tennis team closed the 2023 regular season with a 7-2 win over visiting William Peace University on Sunday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center.

THE BASICS
Pfeiffer led 2-1 after the doubles portion of the competition by virtue of two defaults at the No. 2 and No. 3 matches.  William Peace won the only contested doubles match at No. 1, with the team of Hayley McNair and Camryn Straughn downing Pfeiffer's Megan Rekieta and Alison Sloop by an 8-2 score.

In singles play, Delaney Geygan opened with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No.3 singles to give Pfeiffer the 3-1 lead.  Rekieta then made it 4-1 Pfeiffer with a 6-3 7-5 win at her No. 1 match before WPU's Camryn Straughn took the No. 2 match over Elithe Hudson by a 6-4, 7-6 score.

Pfeiffer won the remaining singles matches by default to provide the 7-2 final.

BACK ON COURT
Pfeiffer has earned the No. 5 seed in the USA South Tournament and will travel to #4 seeded Brevard on Tuesday afternoon, April 25 for a 2:30 p.m. USA South Tournament first round match with the Tornados.
