Pfeiffer Women's Tennis Closes Fall Schedule With a Pair of 7-0 Wins

Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 25, 2024)– The Pfeiffer University women's tennis closed the fall portion of their season with a pair of 7-0 wins over Roanoke College and Johnson & Wales University on an unseasonably warm late October Friday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center.

THE BASICS vs. Roanoke
Pfeiffer had little trouble with the visiting Maroons, sweeping all three doubles matches with Megan Rekieta and Alison Sloop winning 6-4 at No. 1.  Riley Isley and Sydney Cohen took the 6-2 win at No. 2 while Fanny Apostolou and Haley Ingenito won 6-1 at No. 3.

In singles play, Pfeiffer again dominated, with Sonya Rhoades winning at No. 5, 6-2, 6-4.  Isley (No. 6, Cohen (No. 4), Apostolou (No. 3), Ingenito (No. 2) and Rekieta (No. 1) all won their matches in straight sets.

THE BASICS vs. Johnson & Wales
Pfeiffer again swept all three doubles matches in less than 35 minutes, as Rekieta and Sloop dispatched their No. 1 opponent by a 6-3 final.

Isley and Cohen won 6-1 at No. 2 and Claire Germain partnered with Rhoades to take the 6-1 win at No. 3.

In singles play, Pfeiffer swept all six matches with Ingenito, Isley and Germain all winning 6-0, 6-0.

The Next Match
With the fall season complete, Pfeiffer will open their spring season on Feb. 19 with a 1:00 p.m. road match at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va.
