MISENHEIMER, NC --The Pfeiffer volleyball team took care of business in straight sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-16) defeating the visiting Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels in the first match of the final home tri-match of the season on Saturday afternoon at Merner Gym.
Madison Tate finished with seven kills on the day to lead the Falcons attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .385. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Gabby Edwards had 13 and Gabi Gama had 10.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Falcons grabbed control of the set-one lead at 5-4 and never trailed to win 25-18. Pfeiffer led by eight points at 22-14 before closing out the set.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Pfeiffer put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-15 victory in set number two. The Falcons led from the first point on in the set to earn the victory. Pfeiffer opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 10 points, to finish off the set. The Falcons hit .370 over the course of the set.
SET 3 | Pfeiffer then ended the match with a victory in set number three. The Falcons won the set 25-16. Pfeiffer took the lead for good at 7-6 in a set that showcased two lead changes before the Falcons took over the lead. Pfeiffer's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Mary Baldwin attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 10 Mary Baldwin attacking errors on the way to victory.
In the second match of the afternoon, Pfeiffer dropped a nonconference match to the Guilford Quakers 3-0 (20-25, 22-25, 17-25) Saturday at home at Merner Gym.
With the split, Pfeiffer moves to 5-19 overall on the season and 2-The non-conference loss moved Pfeiffer to 5-19 and 2-11 in USA South matches.
Madison Tate finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Falcons offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .375. got 14 digs from Gabby Edwards to lead them defensively.

SET 1 | The Falcons fell behind early, dropping the first set 25-20. Guilford grabbed the advantage for good at 12-11 in a set that was tied up three times before the Quakers took control.
SET 2 | A 25-22 set-two loss put Pfeiffer behind 2-0 in the match. The Falcons came up short in a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured three lead changes and was tied 13 times. Neither team led by more than three points along the way.
SET 3 | Guilford finished off the sweep with a third-set victory. The Falcons fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before losing the set 25-17.
