Late Goal Pushes ONU Past Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 13, 2024) – Visiting Ohio Northern University scored with 0.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter to nip the Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team 10-9 on a warm and sunny Wednesday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field

HOW IT HAPPENED
In a tight game throughout, neither team was able to build a lead larger than two goals.
The evenly matched teams alternated scoring the first eight goals of the game to be deadlocked at 4-4 after ONU scored at 4:07 of the second quarter. ONU then went ahead 5-4 to open the second half with a goal at 14:15 on a player-up goal following a Pfeiffer penalty.
The Falcons responded, drawing even at 7-7 when
Quinn Becraft scored an unassisted goal at 1:14 of the third quarter.
ONU opened the fourth with a pair of scores at 12:19 and 8:31 to jump to a 9-7 lead. Goals from
Tyler Finley and
Zach DeFazio drew Pfeiffer event once more at 9-9, with DeFazio's goal coming with just 2:23 to play.
Pfeiffer took a pushing penalty with 40 seconds remaining and was able to kill off the extra man advantage,
ONU unleashed a shot with four seconds to play, but Pfeiffer goalkeeper
Oliver Buch made a terrific save, but the ball bounced right to ONU's Colin Wilits, who burined the game-winner with 0.2 seconds left, sending ONU to the 10-9 win.

Individually, Pfeiffer's
Quinn Becraft and
Zach DeFazio each scored three goals in the loss. Becraft also added a pair of assists. Teammate
Khyler Johnson had a pair of goals while
Tyler Finley had one score and one assist.
Falcon goalkeeper
Oliver Buch made eight saves on the afternoon for Pfeiffer while his ONU counterpart, Cole Zaferakis had 10 stops.
