No. 18 Pfeiffer def. Southern Virginia 8-3
MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The No. 18 Pfeiffer University softball team extended their streak with a USA South doubleheader sweep of visiting Southern Virginia University on a sunny Friday afternoon at Jack Ingram Field.
Junior Gracie Griffin racked up four hits to lead Falcons offensively in game one..
Senior Kali Morton (9-0) got the win for Pfeiffer (21-0, 1-0). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, zero earned, on four hits, allowing no walks and striking out two.
In addition to her four hits, Griffin had a home run and three RBI to lead the Falcons. Junior Kenzi Lyall furnished a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Lyall's home run came in the Falcon's first at-bat of the game.
Junior Emma Bullin also chipped in for Pfeiffer, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding two doubles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Pfeiffer hit two home runs in the inning on the way to scoring six runs.
The Falcons then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the sixth inning after the Knights cut it to 6-3. Pfeiffer brought home a pair, with one run driven in by Griffin's single, which brought the Falcons lead to 8-3. The score remained 8-3 for the rest of the game, as Pfeiffer coasted to the win.

In game two Lyall was dealing, throwing a one-hit shutout to lead the No. 18 Pfeiffer Falcons past the Southern Virginia Knights 9-0.
Lyall (9-0) went the distance for Pfeiffer (22-0, 2-0), giving up one hit, walking one and striking out two.
At the plate, the Falcons were led by freshman Rileigh Dalton, who went 2-for-2 on the day with a walk and two RBI. Junior Emma Bullin compiled a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-1 with two walks and an RBI. Lyall also chipped in offensively for Pfeiffer, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Pfeiffer's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a one-run single off the bat of Dalton.
The Falcons also added runs in the third inning when they scored five times.
