Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Falls at Catholic, 16-12
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 9, 2024) – Pfeiffer University was held scoreless in the first quarter but fought back to tie the game in the third quarter but fell to host Catholic University in Washington, D.C. on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Catholic raced out to the early 7-0 lead before
Zach DeFazio scored the first Pfeiffer goal at the 11:20 mark of the second quarter. Pfeiffer would go on to outscore Catholic 6-1 in the quarter to provide the 8-6 halftime score.
In the third, Pfeiffer would fight back to tie the game at 11-11 on a player-up goal from
Zach Gignac with 44 seconds before the end of the quarter. Freshman
Ethan Miles would provide the assist on the game-tying goal.
In the fourth, Catholic would regain the three-goal margin with three straight scores to push the lead back to 14-11.
Khyler Johnson would score at the 7:37 mark to pull the Falcons to 14-11, but Catholic held the Falcons scoreless and added two more goals for the 16-12 win.
Inside the Box Score
Individually, DeFazio would score three goals for Pfeiffer while four players had two goals each. Freshman
Ethan Miles would finish with four points as he added a pair of assists while scoring twice.
Quinn Becraft, Johnson and
Zach Gignac also scored two goals each while
Trent Orr added one goal and one assist in the setback.
Will Wozniak,
Nick Pekins and
Tobias Ballester each had four ground balls, while Wozniak added four caused turnovers.
Pfeiffer freshman
Korbin Hamilton started in goal, as he made a pair of saves. Relief goalkeeper
Oliver Buch finished with nine saves on the afternoon.
